Highlander customer partnerships – Bryson Recycling Health and Safety week

Highlander and Bryson Recycling have been partnership for nearly a decade, in which time we have traded nearly 250,000 tons of high quality waste paper destined for various paper mills around the globe.

Highlander have regularly supported many initiatives of Bryson including their annual Health and Safety week, designed to encourage Bryson staff to play an active part in the management of all Health and Safety to the benefits of all employees, visitors, contractors and anyone else that happens to be affected by Bryson’s activities both at their operating sites and when their drivers operate on our roads.

This year we were asked to make a prize donation to the initiative and naturally we were more than willing to lend our support to this very worthwhile cause. Stephen Duffy commented: “We have been business partners and friends with the Bryson Recycling management for almost a decade during which time both companies have grown dramatically in terms of volumes and turnover, reflecting the commitment of both companies to the partnership approach initiated when our relationship commenced. When Katy asked us if we would be interested in helping with the prizes for the Bryson participants we were absolutely delighted to assist here, both organisations take Health and Safety very seriously and with this innovative idea of a specific Health and Safety focus week, this allows a different perspective to be taken to the issue, using a carrot approach for staff to partake in Health and safety management rather than the customary stick method was something we were very interested in and are looking to implement a similar initiative at our own depot in the near future.

Katy Fulton from Bryson commented: At Bryson Recycling we continually strive to improve our Health and Safety management system by implementing industry best practice and through innovating our own operations. We work together with stakeholders, customers, suppliers, contractors and regulators wherever possible to improve services and safety. We have just held our second Health and Safety Week where we ran a wide range of activities, including competitions, vehicle checks, health advice and even our own safety cinema. We would like to thank Stephen and the team at Highlander for their ongoing support and the prizes they supplied.

The winners of the prizes are as follows:

Spot the hazards (office) £25 voucher – Jane Wilmot

Spot the hazards (Kerbside) £25 voucher – Colin Rainey

Spot the hazards (roundup) £25 voucher – Simon Abergele

Health and Safety Suggestion £25 voucher – William Megarry Snr
