Highlander were recently delighted and honoured to host MSP for East Kilbride, Linda Fabiani at our depot.
The day consisted of a detailed tour of our facility which included our security shredding operations, reel splitting machinery and all processing and collection systems we utilise and the rapid growth in our employment figures since we opened our depot in 2014.
We also discussed innovation in the recycling industry and we were able to point out our existing set up with MBM Print where waste is pumped directly into our yard from their print factory as evidence that despite paper recycling being a very mature industry, innovative thinking was still possible and indeed vital to our competitiveness and growth prospects.
We also discussed our impending installation of Scotland’s first solar powered compactor machine at a Highlander customer in Aberdeen and whether or not we have enough sun up there to make the machine work properly!
We were thrilled to have Linda here and of course, we would be delighted to welcome her back to the depot next year, when our new and improved Security Shredding operations have been completed!
Linda used Twitter and Facebook to promote her visit to the depot:
Twitter @LindaFabianiSNP “Delighted to learn so much this morning about the paper recycling industry at @HIRpaperrecyle in East Kilbride
Facebook Linda Fabinai “I learned so much today! Thank you so much for hosting me, Brian and Stephen. Super interesting.”
