On Monday, we enjoyed a visit from Linda Fabiani, MSP for East Kilbride, and Mairi Gougeon, MSP for Angus North & Mearns. Mairi is also the Minister for Rural Affairs and the Natural Environment.
Our CEO Brian Bingham invited Mairi to visit our premises for a full tour of our yard and also to discuss our new depot, which will be based in Brechin. Linda kindly came to introduce Mairi to Brian, and of course, enjoyed another tour of our fabulous factory!
Brian explained all the different grades of paper that we process and showed Mairi and Linda how we blend paper for recycling. We also spoke about our new depot, with construction due to start midway through this year. The new depot will employ 15 local people within the first 6 months and will be a total investment of £1.5m!
Mairi is interested in our carbon footprint and the environmental benefit that our new depot will bring to the area. By diverting tonnage from the Aberdeen area to our new Brechin depot, we will certainly be able to reduce our emissions and the savings we will make in transport costs over the next 2 years will cover the costs of the whole project! We are even using a recycled shed that we have bought from a distillery who used it to store whiskey, rather than buying a brand new one so that we are reusing as many products as we can.
We look forward to meeting with Mairi again and continuing our good relations, and also being introduced to the local community recycling projects in the Brechin area.
Thank you Linda and Mairi for your time, we really appreciate you visiting.
